The ID licensing action explained
After a DUI arrest in Idaho, the Idaho Transportation Department, Division of Motor Vehicles (itd.idaho.gov) opens its own case against your driving privilege. It is administrative, it moves faster than the criminal case, and it is decided regardless of what the court later does with the charge.
The request for an administrative hearing is due within 7 days of arrest. Miss it and the suspension usually takes effect automatically.

How the ID agency runs the licence case
- The ALS is a civil suspension imposed for failing or refusing a blood, breath or urine test after a DUI arrest.
- A first ALS carries a 90-day suspension: 30 days absolute, then 60 days during which a restricted permit is possible.
- A second ALS within five years results in a one-year suspension.
- Reinstatement requires ITD's Driver License Reinstatement form (ITD 3786) and the statutory fee.
- A DUI conviction under Idaho Code § 18-8004 requires an SR-22 proof of financial responsibility filing.
