Sourcing
Every legal claim — statutes, fines, jail terms, license actions — must cite a primary source: the state code, DMV publication, or court rule. Statistics cite NHTSA, FBI UCR, CDC, BJS, or the state DOT. Sources are listed at the bottom of each page.
Research process
Drafts are produced with AI assistance using Perplexity Sonar (which returns inline citations), then automatically filtered: low-quality domains (Reddit, Quora, social) are dropped, dead links are removed, and any major legal/numeric claim must be backed by an authoritative .gov, .edu, or trusted legal-publisher source.
Human fact-checking
Before publication, a human editor verifies each legal figure on the page — BAC limits, fine ranges, jail exposure, license-suspension windows, interlock and SR-22 rules — against the linked statute or agency page. Pages that cannot be verified against a primary source are not published. If we ever add licensed-attorney review, the reviewer's name, bar number, jurisdiction, and review date will be shown on the page itself.
Updates
State pages are reviewed at least annually, and immediately after a known statutory change. Last-reviewed dates are visible on every page.
Corrections
Spot an error? Email corrections@duiguide.us. We post a dated correction note when content is materially changed.
AI disclosure
We use AI tools to draft and structure content. AI is never the final authority — every legal claim is verified by a human editor against the primary source before publication, and any claim we cannot verify is removed.
